Kick Off Autumn at Ewing’s Community Fest This Saturday, September 30th

Ewing Township to Host Annual Celebration of Community at Community Fest This Saturday.

This coming Saturday, come rain or shine, Ewing Township and The College of New Jersey invite area residents to join them at Ewing Township’s 2023 Community Fest from 10 am to 4 pm.  This multi-year fall partnership which celebrates over 30 years of uniting the community is always a hit with residents looking for a great family event to kick off the fall season.

The current forecast as regards rain seems to be improving with only a chance for a shower or two and seasonably cool temperatures.

fallspinlogoThis year, event mainstay, Community Fest Village, an eclectic mix of vendors, artists, crafts persons, community services, not-for-profit organizations, and local businesses is full up so plan not to miss it.  The  Food Truck Court will also showcase an exciting array of food trucks that will serve up local favorites, and a Kid Zone with inflatables, kids’ games, crafts, corn hole and more will be on site. Also kicking off the event early in the morning is the Ewing Green Team’s Fall Spin, their annual bike tour of Ewing

This FREE one-day event will be a great opportunity for students, visitors, and residents alike to mingle and enjoy our community.  Welcoming visitors on the steps of Trenton Hall will be Mayor Bert Steinmann and other dignitaries.  The day will feature musical presentations by the Ewing High School Marching Band; the High School, Fisher Middle School, and Parkway Elementary School Choirs; Fisher Middle School and EHS Orchestras; and the Central Jersey Performing Arts Academy.   Also performing will be the TCNJ Choir and Treble Ensemble, the Pep Band, the Trentones, and TCNJ Cheer.
Two dance performances will raise our spirits in the afternoon, Glen Roc Dance and the Young at Heart Dancers.

Bike Rodeo
2023bikerodeoweb
Kids ages 4 -12, bring your bike (and helmet) to Community Fest!  You are invited to the Ewing Police Department’s and Ewing Green Team’s 2023 Community Fest Bike Rodeo.  The event is aimed at teaching the rules of the road, as well as some safety tips for both the rider and their cycle. The Bike Rodeo will run from 11am - 1 pm, at the parking lot near the event Food Trucks.  Officers, along with volunteers from the Ewing Green Team and TCNJ students, will teach hand signals to be used while riding, as well as provide additional safety tips and participants will test their skills on the obstacle course. Helmet fittings and replacements will be provided by Capital Health (while supplies last).  Pre - registration is recommended to make your experience at the Rodeo go more smoothly, but not required.

Child Car Seat Check
Ewing Police will also be available to assist you in the proper installation of your child seat and to teach you how to use it properly all day at their Child Car Seat Check in the parking lot next to Barnes and Noble at Campus Town. Officers are also trained to spot seats that are expired, recalled, or have other safety concerns.

Ewing’s local fire companies, Pennington Road, West Trenton, and Prospect Heights will offer tours of the fire trucks to kids and families.

Recycle Your Bicycle
We also encourage you to bring your unwanted used bicycle to drop off at the Bike Rodeo.  This is a great opportunity to declutter your garage and storage areas and help make a child happy with a new one!  Recycle Your Bicycle is a collaboration between the Ewing Green Team and the Boys and Girls Club Bike Exchange to solicit donations of your old and dilapidated bikes for refurbishment by volunteers to be put to good use.

TCNJ Lions
Community Fest is a great opportunity to revisit your college memories and cheer on your favorite local college teams, the TCNJ Lions, at the men's soccer and women's field hockey games.   The Men’s Soccer game vs. William Paterson University will be held at Lions Stadium at noon and the Women’s Field Hockey Team vs. Rowan University at the TCNJ Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex at 1 p.m.
