General Election and Voting Information

The Municipal Clerk is the Chief Administrative Officer of all elections held in the municipality and Chief Registrar of Voters in the Township. Please check the NJ Division of Elections for frequently asked questions or call the Clerk's office at (609)538-7609.

New Voting Tools for New Jerseyans 

  • In-person early voting available for 9 days prior to Election Day.

Election Information

The registration deadline to vote at the next election is 21 days prior to election day.  

Primary Election - June 4, 2024

The Primary Election in NJ is the Tuesday after first Monday in June.

Voter Registration Deadline for the Primary Election is May 14, 2024.

General Election - November 5, 2024

The General Election is the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. 

The Voter Registration deadline for the General Election is October 15, 2024.

Register to Vote

Eligibility

To register in New Jersey, you must be:

  • A United States citizen
  • At least 17 years old, with the understanding that you may not vote until reaching the age of 18.
  • A resident of the county for 30 days before the election.
  • You are NOT currently serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction.

Registration is permanent, and re-registration is only required for a change of name or residence.

Note about your signature* If your signature has changed since your original voter registration, it is recommended that you re-register to vote so your signature is current and can be matched to the one on your registration when voting.  If you are disabled and can no longer sign your signature when voting, please reach out to the Mercer County Superintendent of Elections Office at (609)989-6750 for further information.

The deadline to register to vote is 21 days before Election Day.

By Mail

All active registered voters in New Jersey who are currently not on the Vote by Mail list will automatically receive a Vote by Mail application in the mail this year.  If you did not receive one, please verify that you are registered to vote, and fill out the application here and return it to the Mercer County Clerk.  This does not apply if you wish to vote at the polls.  Mail In Ballots will be mailed out to requesting applicants 45 days before the election beginning  April 20, 2024.  

Instructions for completing the Mail in Ballot

  1. Look inside the envelope you receive in the mail for these items:
  • The ballot
  • An inner envelope with an attached certificate
  • A mailing envelope
  1. Completely fill in the oval next to each of your selections in blue or black ink.
  2. Fill in and sign the certificate, keeping it attached to the inner envelope.
  3. Place the ballot into the certificate envelope.
  4. Then, place the certificate envelope into the mailing envelope.
  5. Return your ballot. How you return it is up to you.
    Select one of the following three ways:
  • Mail: Vote-by-mail ballots sent through the mail must be postmarked by Primary Election Day, and received by the county Board of Elections on or before the sixth day after the close of the polls.
  • Secure Ballot Drop Box: Place it in one of your county’s secure Ballot drop boxes by 8:00 p.m. on June 4th. The County Board of Elections will be picking up these ballots. In Ewing Township there is a Ballot box in front of the Municipal Building at 2 Jake Garzio Drive, at the TCNJ Administrative Services Building at 1872 Pennington Rd. in front of the campus side, and at Mercer County Office Park at 1440 Parkside Ave..   (Full list of Mercer County Secure Ballot Box locations will be updated shortly)  
  • Board of Elections Office: Deliver it in person to your county’s Board of Elections Office by 8:00 p.m. on June 4. (Note: Board of Elections is now located at 225 West State Street, 5th Floor, Trenton, NJ 08608)

*Note* If you are a current Vote-by-Mail voter and have not opted out, you may still vote in person by Provisional Ballot at Early Voting site or on Election Day instead of voting your mail in ballot.

Track your vote by mail ballot through the Track My Ballot Portal.  First time users need to create an account and will need either a Driver’s License Number, last 4 digits of SSN, or Voter ID Number to validate voter registration status.  Your Voter ID number is on the ballot that you receive in the mail.

Secure
BALLOT DROP BOXES

Ballot drop boxes are secure, locked structures, available 24/7, where you may drop off your ballot until poll closing at 8 pm on Election Day.  They are monitored by security cameras & collected daily.
