"Jeffrey was employed for 38 years with the Ewing Township Division of Fire (Now known as the Ewing Township Fire Department) as a career firefighter, fire captain, and officer in charge of the department. He was past fire chief (12 years), deputy chief (11 years), and life member of the Prospect Heights Volunteer Fire Company (42 years), life member of the Slackwood Volunteer Fire Company, life member of the New Jersey State Firemen's Association, life member of the Mercer County Firemen's Association, and was the current treasurer of the Prospect Heights Firemen's Relief Association (when he passed) as well as other fire service organizations. Jeffrey was always up to date on the newest fire safety technology and was passionate about instilling the younger generation of its value and how it can save lives."

"Howard S. Morris was one of the first Police Officers to be hired by Ewing Police. His badge is #2. He started as a Motorcycle Patron and later into the Patrol Cars. The family story told was that he stopped a car and the two men were able to jump him and shoot him with his own gun. He was able to scratch the plate number on his car door with his badge. They removed several of the bullets but he carried one lodged close to his heart the rest of his life. He stayed on the job until the late 1950s and retired. He moved to Florida and died in 1967."

Israel Carle, a local teen and horseman, was Captain of the Hunterdon County Militia light horse troop. He first joined the light horse troop (cavalry) for Middlesex County as Hunterdon did not have one; but soon climbed the ranks, becoming captain, and forming the light horse troop in Hunterdon.  His family farm was on the land on either side of Carlton Avenue. William Richard Green was the grandson of William Green I and lived on the land that is the current day Blooming Groove. He was in the Hunterdon Militia. According to historic documents and writings of the Ewing Township Historic Preservation Society, he was at the crossings of the Delaware (as verified by his wife Liz’s widow’s pension, in a statement from her brother Sergeant Burroughs.) He served as a guide/assistant during the Christmas March due to his familiarity with the land.^^
William R. Green is buried in the same row as William Green I in the Ewing Church Cemetery and has a Revolutionary marker on his grave.

"For as long as we can remember, our son has gone out of his way to help others, so it was no surprise to us when he signed a commitment to the Marine Corp at age 17. Ten days after his high school graduation he was off to train at Parris Island in S.C. Eric embraced military life, traveled to several countries during his tour and even trained at Quantico becoming a Marine Security Guard. He came home, adjusted well to civilian life, attended college on the GI bill and earned his Bachelor's degree. We're extremely proud of our boy and all the others who served, past and present."

"At 18, William H. Lacy was drafted into the Army where he played trumpet with the 427th Army Band, the last segregated band in the military. He was honorably discharged and enrolled at the Academy of Music on the GI Bill for advanced study in composition, harmony, and music theory. Bill went on to work as an administrator in the Department of Personnel for the US Postal Service, where he was a nationally recognized, award-winning editor of the Postal Pen newspaper. He spent his spare time as a professional jazz trumpeter in the tri-state area.

He and the late Elizabeth Carter Lacy married in 1955 and raised three children who were educated in the Ewing Public School system. After he retired from the Postal Service, Bill volunteered at local memorial events throughout the county, and for nearly 20 years played Taps at the Ewing Patriotic Committee's annual Memorial Day event. As a proud veteran, Bill considered it an honor to volunteer as a bugler, and he traveled with the McGuire AFB Honor Guard to play Taps at military funerals. He thought it was immensely important to give the vets and their families the dignity of a live bugler. "I personally feel it is an honor to play Taps," Bill told an interviewer for a local paper, "There is a national tradition to pay honor to the men who served this country. I mean live Taps played by a real human being on a real bugle or trumpet."

Bill was a proud resident of Ewing Township from 1960 until his death in 2015. His family is excited to have him recognized as a Hometown Hero."
