Mercer Bucks Pickleball Club to Open in Ewing

Are you looking for a fun, easy to play activity to keep fit and have fun?  If so, you’re in luck.  Mercer County’s first indoor dedicated pickleball facility will open later in January in Ewing.

The Mercer Bucks Pickleball Club (MBPC), located at 370 Sullivan Way, will feature nine indoor courts, a players’ lounge, and an event room, great for hosting private gathering or corporate functions. The site offers 26,000 thousand square feet of top-of-the-line pickleball fun.

What is Pickleball?

For newbies to the sport, pickleball is a paddle ball sport that combines the best of tennis, ping pong, and badminton.  It can be played indoors or out, and the courts are 44’ by 20’ or about on third the size of a tennis court.    It’s a game that anyone can play and MBPC provides the complimentary paddles to get you started.  Play for fun and the exercise, or take it more seriously, and participate in league play.

The idea for a club was conceived in the winter of 2020 by Becky and Frank Gabriele, and Sharon Siegel and Bob Voelzke who developed a passion for pickleball on their cul-de-sac in Yardley.  The project evolved and soon we will be the beneficiaries of a state-of-the-art facility in town with the best in court surfacing, lighting, soundproofing, event programming and instruction.

Look for news of their grand opening at the end of the month.  Follow them on Facebook or visit their website to learn more about membership.

Mayor Bert Steinmann got a “sneak peek” of the club below.  Be sure to save the date to check out the facilities on opening day coming up soon.
