Register to Vote Now for the Upcoming Primary Election on Tuesday, June 8th

Need to Know NJ Primary Election Voter Updates

VoteReminder: New NJ voters hoping to cast a ballot in the upcoming primary elections have until May 18th to complete their voter registration.  Municipal Clerk Kim Macellaro would like to remind residents that the deadline for registering to vote in the June 8, 2021 New Jersey Primary Election is Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  Voter registration hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday at the Township Clerk’s Office located on the second floor of the municipal building, 2 Jake Garzio Drive.  Registrants may also visit this website to download a voter registration form here.  All forms must be received, and you must be registered at least 21 days in advance of an election to vote.

Eligibility Requirements

You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible to vote and be at least 18 years old by Primary Election Day.  You can register to vote when you are age 17 but must be 18 by voting day. You must also have lived in Mercer County for 30 days before the election.  Residents serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction are not eligible to vote.  Registration is permanent, and re-registration is only required for a change of name or residence.

About the Primary Election

The Primary is a party election and voters must be registered as Democrats or Republicans to participate.  A registered voter currently not affiliated with a political party may declare their party affiliation up to and including Primary Election day.  However, a registered voter who wishes to change their party affiliation must file a Political Party Affiliation Declaration Form 55 days before a Primary Election.  That deadline is April 14th.

Vote by Mail

Some voters have expressed a desire to be able to vote in person at the machine.  Last year, due to COVID-19, both elections were vote by mail only as mandated by the State.  This year voting will return to normal and registered votes will have the option of going to the polls or requesting a Vote by Mail Ballot Application English|Spanish.  If you requested to always receive a Vote by Mail Ballot “for all future elections” then you will still receive it.  Others will need to request it.  Applications for voting by mail are available on the Municipal Clerk’s page or by calling the Mercer County Clerk’s Office at 609-989-6494 or emailing them your address at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

A voter may vote by mail by completing the Application for Vote by Mail Ballot and mailing the application to the County Clerk, with the application being received by the County Clerk at least 7 days prior to the election. A voter may also apply in person to the County Clerk until 3 p.m. the day before the election.   The County Clerk also cannot accept faxed or emailed copies of an Application for Vote by Mail Ballot, unless you are a Military or Overseas Voter, since an original signature is required.

Once you apply for a Mail-In Ballot, you will not be permitted to vote by machine at your polling place in the same election.

Vote by Mail Application Options

You may choose to automatically receive Mail-in Ballots in future elections.  Select Option A to choose to receive a Mail-in Ballot for the remainder of this calendar year.  Select Option B to receive Mail-in Ballots for all future November General Elections.  Mail-in Ballots will then be provided until you request that you no longer be sent such a ballot or following failure to vote for four successive general elections following the general election at which you last voted.

Polling Locations

If you are uncertain about where to cast your ballot, look for updated information about polling locations on this website.  See our List of 2021 Polling Locations.  Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The Township of Ewing encourages all eligible, voting age Ewing residents to fill out and file their registration application today. For further information, call the Municipal Clerk’s Office at 883-2900 x7609.
