Ewing Green Team Presents Donation to HomeFront

Proceeds from Ewing’s Community Bike Ride to Combat Homelessness

The 5th Annual Ewing Fall Spin officially concluded at the December 10, 2019 Ewing Council Meeting with the presentation of the event proceeds to HomeFront, this year’s ride beneficiary.  A check in the amount of $990 was presented by Bike Ride Committee Chair Garry Keel to HomeFront representative Liza Peck.  He said about the ride: "In addition to raising nearly $1000 for HomeFront, what stood out to me on this year's ride was listening to Ewing residents talking with each other about the various Ewing neighborhood and meeting other Ewing residents for the first time.  It was truly a community interactive event."

The ride is run by the Ewing Green Team‘s Bike Advocacy Group, a contingent of citizen volunteers interested in promoting healthy lifestyles, a more bikeable Ewing, and raising awareness of bike safety,  in conjunction with the Ewing Recreation Department.  It is held annually as the start-up event for Ewing’s Community Fest celebration and riders, sent off by Mayor Bert Steinmann, depart from Campus Town and travel throughout the community for approximately 12 miles.   This year’s ride on September 21st was run to support HomeFront.

The Ewing Green Team is delighted to be able to support the good works of HomeFront, our local non-profit which works to end the cycle of poverty and prevent homelessness in Central New Jersey.  Harnessing the caring, resources and expertise of the community, they are able to “lessen the immediate pain of homelessness and help families become self-sufficient…  giving “clients the skills and opportunities to ensure adequate incomes.”
