Ewing Showcases Local Watercolor Painter as October Featured Artist

The  Ewing Arts Commission and Art Has No Boundaries will feature the artwork of Tim McGee in October.

McGee, who considers himself a ‘watercolor Apprentice,’ began by studying watercolor masters, gaining insight and experience, and eventually branching out into his own original work.   His water colors will be on display at Town Hall throughout the month of October.

About McGee

Tim McGee, a self-taught watercolorist, began actively painting with a group of artists at the Ewing Senior and Community Center as well as with Artists at the Station.  “Hanging out with people who know what they are doing had been most beneficial.” McGee states.

While McGee took a watercolor class in college, he freely admits it wasn’t until he gained patience and perspective that his art soared.   He began his artistic journey by copying the work of other painters and attending workshops of professionals like James Toogood at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts.  But, it wasn’t until he had taken several lessons from Joanne Augustine in Princeton where he moved beyond simple replication to creating his own original art.   In fact, he credits Augustine with encouraging him to branch out and move to the next level.

McGee admits he still exploring and evolving as an artist.   “I have yet to develop what might be called a style, but I am increasingly achieving effects I desire.” McGee says.

Today his work predominately derives from his own observations or photographs he’s taken.

Tim McGee’s work will be on display through the end of October.  He will be on hand for a Meet the Artist Night at Ewing Town Hall from 6 to 8 pm on October 17.

About Ewing’s Featured Artist Program

The Ewing Arts Commission and the Art Has No Boundaries organization partnered to showcase Ewing Township artists at Ewing Town Hall this fall.  Establishing a monthly display of local art work, the art installation will feature two to three dimensional art on the second floor of the Municipal building.   Participating artists are affiliated with the Ewing Arts Commission, a municipal body that seeks to promote the arts in our community, and the Art Has No Boundaries organization, a group that provides art programming at the Ewing Senior Community Center.

Local artists interested in having their art showcased at Town Hall should contact the Ewing Arts Commission at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
