Have you ever wondered what it is like to be a police officer?
If you are one of the many people who are interested in learning about law enforcement, the Citizens’ Police Academy may be for you. The Ewing Police Department is once again offering an engaging 8-week program open to community members aged 18 and older. It’s designed to provide a deeper understanding of Ewing Police Department and helping residents become informed partners in public safety.
This interactive program is designed to educate township residents about department procedures, guidelines, responsibilities, and demands of personnel that guide police decision-making. Some of the topics that will be covered include: An overview of the Department’s organization and structure, recruitment and training, crime scene investigations, the 911 operating system, K9 unit demonstrations, and the roles and responsibilities of the various divisions and sections. In addition, participants will be given an opportunity to “ride along” with a patrol officer and experience a firearms training simulation.
The Citizen Police Academy is open to township residents, business owners, and school faculty within the Township of Ewing who are over the age of 18. Please be advised that this class is not a training course to become a sworn police officer.
Please note:
All applicants must undergo a background check. The application is available on the website: Ewing Police Citizens Academy Application.
