Effective in 2026, all Ewing Township households will move to a single, township-wide trash collection day: Wednesday.
Residential garbage continues to be collected once per week year-round. Private developments/apartment complexes are not affected by the change.
The last week of normal collections will be the week after Christmas: Mon 12/29-Wed 12/31. Thursday (New Year’s Day) route is a holiday and will be collected Friday 1/2/26.
The first town-wide collection shall be the following week on Wednesday 1/7/26
Currently, IWS collects trash four days per week using three trucks per day (12 total routes).
Beginning January 7, IWS will transition to one collection day—Wednesday—using 13 collection vehicles to serve the entire township.
IWS does not operate on the following holidays:
For any holiday that falls on a Wednesday, look for your pickup on Thursday.
Please allow 1–2 additional days for pickup during holiday weeks or after significant service disruptions, such as a weather event.
If your trash has not been collected within 24 hours of collection day (Wednesday) please report a missed pickup online. Please use our Ewing Buddy app to submit your service request - https://ewingnj.org/ewingbuddy.
Note: The Ewing Public Works Facility does not accept household trash.
There are no changes to the residential recycling schedule as that is handled by the Mercer County Improvement Authority (MCIA). Recycling will continue to be collected on Tuesdays.
If recycling was missed on your entire street or part of it, you may report the issue online through the Mercer County Improvement Authority’s Request for Service portal.
