Change to Brush Collection Beginning March 1st Update

Here's what you need to know to ensure your yard waste is managed properly.

containerizedbrush leavesBeginning in March, Public Works will collect yard waste twice monthly by zone.  Like our Leaf Collection schedule, residents in Zone 1 can expect brush collections the 1st and 3rd weeks of the month, and residents in Zone 2 can expect brush collections the 2nd and 4th weeks.  In shorts, residents whose trash is picked up on Monday and Thursday are in Zone 1, and residents whose trash is picked up on Tuesday and Wednesday are in Zone 2.

Place brush and yard trimmings at the curb on the Saturday or Sunday prior to your collection week.  Crews may be on your street as early as Monday of your collection week.  If you miss the pick up, we cannot circle back to your property until the next collection week.

To keep our storm drains clear, ensure better water quality, and to comply with NJDEP environmental protection guidelines, please keep brush waste away from the storm drains!
Brush
  • Brush shall not include whole trees, tree trunks or branches exceeding six inches diameter.
  • Brush placed at the curb for collection shall be cut into no larger than four-foot lengths.
  • Brush may be loose or containerized.
  • Branches and limbs may be securely tied in bundles with a total weight not exceeding 50 pounds.
Yard trimmings / leaves
  • Yard trimmings / leaves must be containerized.

General Requirements
  • Non-conforming piles will be left at curb and subject to code enforcement violations.
  • This service is for Ewing residents only and no contractor may place brush in front of another property without permission from the property owner.
  • No brush originating outside of Ewing Township may be disposed of or placed along a street within the Township for pickup.

Yard Waste Reminders

Grass clippings are now considered solid waste.  Residents should bag grass clipping in regular trash bags and place them out for garbage pickup.  Grass should not be mixed with other yard waste or place in brown bags, as it will not be collected.  Branches and other yard debris should be placed curbside on your designated collection week.

Let's work together for a cleaner, greer Ewing Township.
