Change Coming to Ewing’s Emergency and Community Notification System!

Beginning January 1st2024 registered users will need to OPT-IN to receive community notifications.  Emergency notifications will go out to all users.

2023 AlertsCampaignwebSmart911 by Rave Mobile Networks is the official notification system used by Ewing Township to communicate with residents about emergencies and for community notifications. Alerts are sent via text message, email, and/or voice message.

In response to requests to be able to receive more targeted messages, beginning January 1, 2024, there will be a change to who receives notifications.  All Ewing account holders will continue to receive Emergency Notifications for weather, wildlife warnings, etc.; however, you will need to OPT IN to receive Community Notifications such as trash pick-up delays, community events and more.

For individuals who already receive our notices and also wish to receive Community Notifications in addition to Emergency Notifications, you must opt in by texting the keyword “EwingInfo” to Ewing’s shortcode 67283.  OR, you may log in to your Smart911 account and manually check Community Notifications.

For residents who have not enrolled yet in the service and wish to receive these directed emergency and community updates please go to https://www.ewingnj.org/ravealerts or on a smartphone text SMART911 to 67283.  Click on the Sign Up Now button to access a registration form.  Fill out all requested fields.  If you wish to receive more community related in addition to emergency notifications, don’t forget to check the Community Notifications checkbox.  Then click on Create Account.  You will receive a verification code to complete your registration.

“Sending notifications through Rave Alerts allows Ewing Township to keep the community informed about emergencies and as well as keeping them abreast of what is happening in town.  Being prepared can save critical time in an emergency when seconds may count and help you stay safe,” said Mayor Bert Steinmann. When emergencies happen such as severe weather, safety or health risks, or transportation disruptions; you need to know the potentially life-saving actions that you may need to take to keep yourself and your family safe.  By signing up for Rave Alerts powered by Smart911, you are taking a large step toward improving your personal safety and at a bargain price.  There is no cost to the public for participation.

How does it work?  When an emergency occurs that meets the criteria for sending out an alert to the public, Ewing Township’s emergency dispatchers will gather the necessary information and push out an alert to the affected area. Alerts can be sent out township-wide to everyone who has opted-in to the system, or to a specific area or neighborhood for more localized events.

The frequency for which you receive alerts depends on the addresses you provide and the types of alerts you select to receive as well as the frequency of actual emergencies. Emergency alerts will only be sent when there is an immediate threat to life and/or property. Community notifications will be sent when the criteria for sending an alert are met.

This update to the Rave Alert system demonstrates Ewing Township's commitment to public safety and leveraging technology to enhance communication with residents during times of crisis. We encourage all residents and businesses to sign up for the Rave Alerts today.
