The 2022 NJ Primary Election - June 7th

Cast Your Ballot for the Candidate of Your Choice on June 7th

voteOn Tuesday, June 7, 2022, NJ voters will select the candidates for state, county, and municipal offices for the General Election in November.  Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Be sure to exercise your rights and vote.

Candidates

The goal of the Primary Election is to nominate party candidates who will run in the General Election and elect party members of the County Committees.  In this primary, voters will select candidates for the US House of Representatives (12th Congressional District), Board of County Commissioners, and two County Committee representatives.  Ewingites will also vote to elect the mayor and two Council representatives.

About the Primary Election

The Primary is a party election and voters must be registered as Democrats or Republicans to participate.  A registered voter currently not affiliated with a political party may declare their party affiliation up to and including Primary Election day.  However, a registered voter who wishes to change their party affiliation must file a Political Party Affiliation Declaration Form 55 days before a Primary Election.  That deadline was April 13th.  You may no longer change your party affiliation for the upcoming primary election but may change it now for future elections.

Registering to Vote

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, it is too late for the Primary Election, but not too late for the General Election on November 8th. (The deadline to register to vote prior to an election is 21 days before Election Day.)

Eligibility

You must be:

  • A United States citizen
  • At least 17 years old, with the understanding that you may not vote until reaching the age of 18.
  • A resident of the county for 30 days before the election.
  • You are NOT currently serving a sentence, probation or parole because of a felony conviction.

Registration is permanent, and re-registration is only required for a change of name or residence.
